About the event
Let Kim Driedger and Joelle Borne do their best to entertain your kids while Kathlyn Hossack helps you, the parent(s) move, stretch and breathe a bit. All at the same time.
You will need two devices for this. We are setting it up in a way that most internet connections will be able to handle it.Â
This is a bit experimental but we think it's worth trying!
Kim Driedger is a Crossfit Coach, budding nutrition student and an Educational Assistant. She will have some simple and fun movement for kids for the first 20 minutes or so.
Joelle Borne is a mom of four with background in movement/yoga and is a Process through Play Coach. The zoom screen will switch over to her when Kim is done. You will get a list of simple supplies that you child will need to participate. The descriptions and supplies are also below.
Kathlyn Hossack is a Certified Athletic Therapist with a special interest in breath and movement. She will help you move your body out of it's current state so that you feel refreshed afterwards.
NOTE: This event will run 4 wednesday mornings in a row - however you will have to register for them all seperately. For more info on the Kid's play please see below.
Kids online engaged play:
*This is a play time where a facilitator will engage with kids in a online platform following along a theme.Â
*There will be an introduction time where the facilitator will relay instructions and introduce themselves. Name tags can be useful as sometimes people need to hear their own name to stay engaged in an activity.Â
*The facilitator will use encouragement and demonstration to provide as much engagement as possible.Â
*If a guest is noisy the facilitator may mute; not to eliminate engagement but to allow less distraction for the other guests.Â
*Any guest who is muted will be unmuted when the facilitator is ready to check with noise again. Hands can be raised to get the attention of the facilitator.Â
*There may be times the facilitator encourages noise as a group- this would mean the entire group is making noise and it is therefore not a distraction.Â
May 13th - play dough, book at reading level (picture book for littles is fine), items from nature (more than 2; sticks and rocks totally count).
We will be sharing about our book and building some creative illustrations for the book.Â
Please note that we have described the next 2 "Kid play parent stretch' below but you will have to register for them seperately...
May 20th - Â paper, coloring utensils, 50 of something (leaf buds, buttons, cherrios...)
We will be creatively counting and sorting our items.
May 27th - paper, crayons or a pencil, a coin (or several), small toy or figure
We will tell a story with our toys and build them a magical math mandala on the paper to help translate our story.Â
