About the event
Welcome.
You are here because you know something has to be done, and it needs to be done properly.Â
The answers we have been implementing are not working, that means it's time to ask a better question.
Here is what I know for sure: You don't need another cookie cutter program designed by someone that has never met your people and doesn't know how your company operates or what your culture is like. You really don't. You need help getting past 'complicated' and on with the answers that are actually going to help.
You are the one that knows your people. Â I know the basic biology, psychology and lifestyle of those people. (That's a good combo, btw :) You already know on some level what they need and what the company needs - I am simple going to help you unlock that knowing.
If you plan to invest in wellness for your human assests in 2022, there are three aspects of our health that you must incorporate into the strategy - or you will fail right out of the gate. We don't have time for all answers to complicated things that were never complicated in the first place.Â
You will come out of this mind-blowing session with MUCH better questions, which will inform your answers in a more targeted, effective way.
The three things we will explore revolve aroundÂ
1. The Nervous System
- trauma and the stress response
- regulation (mental health)
- relationship to anxiety and depression
2. The Microbiome
- Mood Regulation (mental health)
- Immune System Impact
- Nutrient Assimilation
3. Food
- Lose the fads and remove 'nutritionism' from our mental models around food
- Understand what food actually is
- Direct impact of food on wellbeing (& mental health)
Did you catch the commonality there? ALL of those things directly impact our mental health. I see mental health as an outcome of dysfunction in all of the above, I see it as an outcome of the lives we have lived.
People need the power of their own wellbeing handed back to them. We need to take it out of the hands of the marketed confusion that left them so unsure of what to do, that many have given up and resigned themselves to a life of feeling sick and tired most of the time. #commonnotnormal is the hashtag for that.
I will take you through the basics of these three topics and the interconnectedness of them - you will likely hear things that you have never heard before. After the presentation there will be a guided discussion and a live Q&A (more on that and my special guests, below).
You can get a preview of the depth of these things here: Food & Your Mood I designed this series specifically for post-pandemic recovery needs and we will cover the basics of it in this event. I have been working as a nutritional therapist (basically a counsellor and wellness strategist) for individuals, couples and families for over 15 years, and that turned me into a counsellor for companies ;) ha. These are the things that put the most power over their own health back into their hands. And after the last 2 years, we all need it more than ever.
The answers we need to heal, get our vitality and hope back, are all available. The research and exploration done in these three areas the last 10 years is a game changer. To access their potential we have toÂ
a.) at least know they exist
b.) understand them in a way that is accessible and applicable to our reality and the lives we live.Â
That is what I specialize in - delivering this information, understanding and implementation, to my fellow humans.
Be prepared for a great discussion and Q&AÂ
Here is how it's all gonna go down:
12:00 pm CST, my "presentation" starts. Please log in a few min before if you can so we can get everyone in the room and on our way. I will cover the topics listed on event page in a very down to earth, practical and perception-shifting way.
12:50 I will take a few of your questions from the chat box. If you are unable to stay on for the extended Q&A I will try to give your questions priority
1:01ish Discussion begins.Â
Some of my corporate wellness kindred spirits will now be joining us:
I asked Seth Anderson over at TELUS, (who recently brought me in to deliver a tailored series of Food and your Mood to his team), to talk about the feedback and benefits he has seen from addressing these things head on, and help us explore execution.
Then I called up Neil Hunter over at Deloitte and asked if he would be willing to play Devil's Advocate - to help us explore potential organizational obstacles and execution issues.
Both of these companies have invested significantly in wellness support for their people... so they know things :)
Why did I do this?
Well, talking about strategy and the key issues to address is one thing, helping you navigate natural obstacles and execution is another. Since there is so much interest in this, I wanted to attempt to help you out with both. I always find that bringing in other perspectives is most helpful and always enriches the learning.
The three of us will navigate some of this in a live discussion and will address questions in the chat that come up. I have also seen the guest list, many of you will have something to contribute I am sure.
Around 1:15 CST, you can start putting your hands up, unmuting, and ask questions directly.
1:30ish I will officially close things down.Â
After the session you will all get a little takeaway sheet sent over to you.
I look forward to seeing you on the zoom!
